Welcome 2 The Limit (W2TL) is a band with roots from Chicago, IL but has since moved onward towards Brooklyn, NY (and sometimes Atlanta, GA) to pursue their dream of becoming international artists. They describe their music as water – never settling into the same place but always moving towards a sound pending their inspirations. As they begin their collaboration with international artists, their focus has also included creating online content and building the W2TL brand.
AUX: “Who are the Welcome 2 The Limit (W2TL) band members? And where is everyone from?“
Welcome 2 The Limit: W2TL is Devon Lee aka Buttermilk (ATL) + mikeflo (Brooklyn by way of ATL but born and bread in Chicago).
“How would you categorize your sound? If you had to name a genre, what type of music does W2TL produce?“
W2TL: The W2TL sound is like water. It can find it’s shape in the container. It really just depends on the day or inspiration. From rock to electronic to hip hop even to country (Buttermilk has an upcoming country solo LP). Our influences are varied and so is the sound. We like it that way. Keeps us challenged and edgy. The best genre to encompass the many things we are and desire to be is probably “alternative.”
“The radi8er app is a digital streaming platform that features the top independent artists based on their location. What city would you say W2TL reflects? Or does the band represent something greater than a physical location? If so, what is it? What is your vision? Your story?“
W2TL: Of course we have our roots in our hometowns, but as global citizens we are also a global band. Currently, we are cooking up some big things with some UK legends. So again, it really just depends. Our vision is to break all boarders physically and sonically.
“Considering the current climate in the music industry right now, what do you believe are the next opportunities for indie artists to come up?“
W2TL: We believe this is the best time for independent artists. The playing field is more leveled now than ever before. No one is touring, so the emphasis is purely on the recordings, online content, synchs/placements, lifestyle branding and merchandise. That’s our mission.
“What are some of the key songs/projects that people should check out to get an idea of what W2TL is all about?“
W2TL: Check our our latest EP, “LIVE FROM THE PINK PALACE”, as well as our single HER. (Available everywhere digital).
“We want to help spread the word on any projects, plans or developments you have in the works. What’s next for W2TL? Anything the readers should know?“
W2TL: We are releasing a remix EP entitled “The Royal Remixes” which was formally released on our former name “Royal.” It was only released on our Bandcamp years back for free, so we will be re-releasing that very soon. In addition to the UK stuff mentioned earlier (can’t disclose yet), we both have various solo projects and continue to cook up new things all the time as a group. We have a few videos we are releasing from our current EP “LIVE FROM THE PINK PALACE”, as well as a live taping we will release very soon. Just tune in to all things W2TL.
